One great regret Hunting me down I will never forget One great regret Hunting me down I will never forget I try not to have So many regrets But some days they come I try not to have So many regrets But some days they come Hunting me down Hunting me down They’re hunting me down Hunting me down They’re hunting me down Hunting me down I made a mistake I know that I did I only hope you can forgive I’ll make more mistakes As long as I live And I only hope you can forgive I try not to have So many regrets But some days they come I try not to have So many regrets But some days they come Hunting me down Hunting me down They’re hunting me down Hunting me down Hunting me down They’re hunting me down I try not to have So many regrets But some days they come I try not to have So many regrets But some days they come Hunting me down Hunting me down They’re hunting me down Hunting me down They’re hunting me down Hunting me down -- Words and music by Andrew Lawrence Jackson

Old dreams never die They live on eye to eye Mine is yours, yours is mine Never-ending, for all time This love never dies Life goes on, uncompromised We grow old, we grow wise I see myself in your eyes Maybe I’m dreaming, that’s alright I’ll see you in my dreams tonight Maybe I’m dreaming, that’s alright Old dreams never die -- Words and music by Andrew Lawrence Jackson

I’ve got to stop making myself suffer ‘Cause it’s all starting to get to me I lay awake at night not sleeping That’s just not like me usually But it has been this way For the past few nights And now the pain inside Burns so bright There is a poetry in all of this Or maybe poetic justice Still, I’m looking for the best in you I believe in love And you do too And I will continue To think the best of you I’m a romantic, yes And you are too I’m going to continue To think the best of you Don’t let it become an obsession ‘Cause all this is starting to get to me To lay awake at night not sleeping That’s just not like me usually But I believe in love And you do too And I will continue To think the best of you I’m a romantic, yes And you are too And I’m going to continue To think the best of you I believe in love And you do too And I will continue To think the best of you I’m a romantic, yes And you are too And I’m going to continue To think the best of you The best of you I’m going to think the best of you -- Words and music by Andrew Lawrence Jackson

Well perhaps I spoke too soon Of course the dish ran away with the spoon And I know it’s been too long Can no longer tell right from wrong Frenemies know how hard you try Try to make it but don’t know why With friends like these who needs enemies “Don’t give up” — now you’re tellin’ me Well perhaps I spoke too soon Of course the fork had a thing for the spoon And maybe it has been too long Can no longer tell right from wrong That’s because Friends and neighbors will pass you by Conversations of pie in the sky Ask yourself do you feel lucky “You can’t escape it” — now you tell me Frenemies know how hard you try Try to make it but don’t know why With friends like these who needs enemies Don’t give up — now you tell me Don’t give up — now you tell me Don’t give up — now you tell me Don’t give up — now you tell me Don’t give up — now you tell me -- Words and music by Andrew Lawrence Jackson

I just decided something Someday I’ll figure out what it is I just remembered something Someday I’ll measure out what it means Someday I will swagger I might put forth a wager I am not a slacker Not a faker But someday I will figure it out As if it was ever in doubt Someday I will figure it out I just imagined something Someday I’ll live it up as it is I want to tell you something Someday I’ll remember what What it is Someday I will swagger I might put forth a wager I am not a slacker Not a faker But someday I will figure it out Someday I will figure it out As if it was ever in doubt Someday I will figure it all out -- Words and music by Andrew Lawrence Jackson

I came here for something else I wasn’t prepared for Whatever this is I stood in line for something else I didn’t prepare for Whatever this is Predicting the future It isn’t so easy Optimists think that They’re right half the time That would be generous If we’re being honest We’re falling asleep Just to make up the time I came here for something else I wasn’t prepared for Whatever this is I stood in line for something else I didn’t prepare for Whatever this is Watch as the horses Imaginary and wild Come trampling through The center of the town That exists only in your mind Or wherever you keep your dreams Or wherever you keep your dreams Or wherever you keep your dreams Or wherever you keep your dreams Or wherever you keep your dreams Or wherever you keep your dreams -- Words and music by Andrew Lawrence Jackson

Come take your pill That makes you a boy or a girl Give me that stare That tells me how much you care Show me that smile That makes everything worthwhile Say hello to the night Say farewell to the day Lord knows I might Cry if you ran away Lord knows I might Cry if you went away But the days just drag on As they are wont to do And I’m taking flight As I’m sitting here in front of you Imagine me now Any way that you want Come take your pill That makes you a boy or a girl Give me that stare That tells me how much you care Mmm mmm mm mmm -- Words and music by Andrew Lawrence Jackson

There’s a body of evidence But the facts are fading There’s a chart of the elements But it’s kind of shady If it was all up to me But then it will never be If it was all up to me But then it will never be If it was all up to me But then it will never be If it was all up to me But then it will never be There’s a body of evidence There is immaculate radiance There are safaris to outer space Where you can practice your eloquence If it was all up to me But then it will never be If it was all up to me But then it will never be If it was all up to me But then it will never be If it was all up to me But then it will never be

If it was all up to me But then it will never be If it was all up to me But then it will never be There’s a body of evidence But the facts are fading There’s a chart of the elements But it’s kind of shady Body of evidence Body of evidence -- Words and music by Andrew Lawrence Jackson

Blue Sun 03:58
When it all gets to be too much I need to believe in love And remember that I don’t know much About life’s mysteries and such When I’m starting to feel overwhelmed I need to back up a touch And remember who is at the helm Trust in the mystery of love Even though we’ve known hard times We’ve always made it through Honestly I don’t know how I Would have done it without you When I need to take it down a notch And look away when it’s too much to watch I need a break from the hustle and strife I just want to live a quiet life When it all gets to be too much When the clouds cover over the sun I need to know I’m not the only one Need to remember to have some fun

‘Cause even though we’ve known hard times We’ve always made it through Honestly I don’t know how I Would have done it without you Even though we’ve known hard times We’ve always made it through I honestly don’t know how I Would have done it without you -- Words and music by Andrew Lawrence Jackson

about

Blue Sun is Jackson's second solo album of 2021, following his previous LP, Beat Poetry Music, by just a few months. The title refers to a happy-sad state, a sort of "saudade" wherein the bright sun of awareness commingles with the melancholy of loss and feelings of lost or missed chances. Still, the Blue Sun penetrates and warms, bringing with it newfound understanding. Jackson writes and sings these songs like his life depends on it. It probably does.
