Not everyone Gets so lucky Not everyone Has it so good I’m not saying I Am one of them I’m just saying I’m not in the mood I’ve had it up to here I’m buried to my neck I’m swimming in my tears I’m tired but what the heck I’ve got to get paid So I do what I have to do I’m weighing my options Like I’m Nosferatu Not everyone Has it so easy Not everyone Has it so good I’m not saying I Am one of those people I’m just saying I’m Not in the mood I’ve had it up to here I’m buried to my neck I’m swimming in my tears I’m tired but what the heck I’ve got to get paid So I do what I have to do I’m weighing my options Like I’m Nosferatu Not everyone Has the skills Or has so much Apparent time to kill I’m not saying I’m living the life In fact I’m saying that I’m probably not -- Words and music by Andrew Lawrence Jackson Copyright 2021 Andrew Lawrence Jackson

Ooh… All the wasted years Chasing demons, following fears All the wasted years Chasing demons, following fears All the wasted years Chasing demons, following fears Hold yourself accountable These feelings are not unsurmountable All this wasted time Making money that is not mine Ride it to the end of the line Aim for something higher all the time Tell me you’re okay, that you feel fine If I fall away, that you will fall in line Tell me you’re okay, that you feel fine If I fall away, that you will fall in line Tell me you’re okay, that you feel fine If I fall away, that you will fall in line Tell me you’re okay, that you feel fine If I fall away, that you will fall in line Tell me you’re okay, that you feel fine If I fall away, that you will fall in line Tell me you’re okay, that you feel fine If I fall away, that you will fall in line Hold yourself accountable (all the wasted years) These feelings are not unsurmountable (chasing demons) -- Words and music by Andrew Lawrence Jackson Copyright 2021 Andrew Lawrence Jackson

I was just a punk, I didn’t know enough I didn’t know I wasn’t ready For what was possible I didn’t have the words or the experience To make you happy But that was then and this is now And now I understand It would have been different If I had had another chance to get it right Then I know I can There’s too much indifference But I will never feel Indifferent about you My mind will always be Tied up in a knot, just thinking about you Time will tell I guess you know That’s how it always is We can’t turn back time There’s only now and maybe There is still another way Look for the high sign When I think about it there is nothing that makes any sense to me It isn’t pretty Second chances are unlikely And another type of circumstance That would be tricky But I will never feel Indifferent about you My mind will always be Tied up in a knot, just thinking about you Now another week is starting and I have to get to work I’m keeping it going For the day and time when you and I Might meet again Feelings overflowing ‘Cause I will never feel Indifferent about you (All I can say is at the time I didn’t know) No matter what comes to be I will never doubt you (All I can say is at the time I didn’t know) Yes I will always be here Thinking about you (All I can say is at the time I didn’t know) My mind will always be Tied up in a knot, just thinking about you I was just a punk, I didn’t know enough I didn’t know I was just a punk, I didn’t know enough I didn’t know -- Words and music by Andrew Lawrence Jackson Copyright 2021 Andrew Lawrence Jackson

I been around the block More than a few times My angel following me I’m thinking about The last time I saw you And was it you or me? My head keeps telling me Something logical But my heart just wants romance So I am taking My own sweet time And walking around in a trance It’s a new day but It feels like an extension Of these past few weeks Something on my mind Like a constant rumination Just out of reach Am I imagining Almost everything Or is there maybe a chance I’m not complaining but I’m still not satisfied So I walk around in a trance I’m walking around in a trance Walking around in a trance Walking around in a trance I’m walking around in a trance Walking around in a trance -- Words and music by Andrew Lawrence Jackson Copyright 2021 Andrew Lawrence Jackson

Baby you blew my mind

 (Baby you blew my mind

) (Baby you blew my mind

) You blew my mind It was an accident You blew my mind Didn’t give my consent Time after time My mind explodes again All pain aside I can’t wait till it happens again (Again, again) I can’t wait till it happens again (Again, again) You blew my mind A happy accident Opened my mind You set a precedent Time after time My mind explodes again Joking aside I can’t wait till it happens again (Again, again) I can’t wait till it happens again (Again, again) Can’t wait till it happens again You blew my mind It was an accident You blew my mind Didn’t give my consent Time after time My mind explodes again All pain aside I can’t wait till it happens again (Again, again) I can’t wait till it happens again Baby you blew my mind And I can’t wait till it happens again I can’t wait till it happens again And I can’t wait till it happens again And I can’t wait till it happens again -- Words and music by Andrew Lawrence Jackson Copyright 2021 Andrew Lawrence Jackson

The sound is wavering A tiny person is waving Either they are far away Or very very small I can’t tell the difference any more No difference at all No difference at all No difference at all I can’t tell the difference any more No difference at all No difference at all No difference at all Existence is immersive Like a large inflated head It leaves a lot to be said It leaves a lot to be said The picture keeps on wavering Unsteady as they come The words a steady stream To a heavy thrumming strum The sound — wavering A tiny person — waving Either they are far away Or very very small I can’t tell the difference any more No difference at all No difference at all No difference at all I can’t tell the difference any more No difference at all No difference at all No difference at all All for one And one for all Far away Or very small All for one And one for all Far away Or very small -- Words and music by Andrew Lawrence Jackson Copyright 2021 Andrew Lawrence Jackson

Only You 04:00
Capture the moment before it splits Only you see it and only you know it Stick to the story if it fits ‘Cause only you see it and only you know it (Doo doo doo doo doo doo) Occasionally it’s not only you If you find someone special to share in these moments Suddenly life can become something new But only you see it and only you know it They can’t stop you from living your truth They can’t stop you from living your truth Don’t let the moment elude you They can’t stop you from living your truth Occasionally it’s not only you If you find someone special to share in these moments Suddenly life can become something new But only you see it and only you know it And only you know it Only you know it Suddenly life can become something new But only you see it and only you know it But only you see it and only you know it But only you see it and only you know it But only you see it Suddenly life can become something new Suddenly life can become something new Suddenly life can become something new -- Words and music by Andrew Lawrence Jackson Copyright 2021 Andrew Lawrence Jackson

Make it count Guess the count and the amount Grab the ring and run Beneath the moon and the sun It’s the rhythm of the streets The suburban oblique A sculpture in a garden That makes it unique If it’s pitch dark at night Then reach for the light On afternoon TV Curtain one, two or three Invitation implied Come along for the ride Whatever may come Just stay by my side Another year around the sun Spin around and it’s gone Take it into account Guess the count and the amount It’s the rhythm of the streets The suburban oblique Going round in circles With a certain mystique (Okay) Make it count Guess the count and the amount Grab the ring and run Beneath the moon and the sun Make it count Guess the count and the amount Grab the ring and run Beneath the moon and the sun -- Words and music by Andrew Lawrence Jackson Copyright 2021 Andrew Lawrence Jackson

The Real Me 02:43
I try to be honest I try to be real But honestly I don’t Know how that feels I try to be straight up You can trust me I could not make up What it feels like to be… AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH…… So I bury the real me I cover him up No, I’m not embarrassed I’ve just had enough What is the real thing I guess you might ask Can you see the real me Behind this face mask There must be more But I haven’t found it yet I’d settle the score But it hasn’t satisfied me yet I finally arrive To find they all have left But I’m alive And not too deep in debt I try to be honest Try to be real But honestly I Don’t know how that feels I try to be honest Try to be real But honestly I Don’t know how that feels AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH…… -- Words and music by Andrew Lawrence Jackson Copyright 2021 Andrew Lawrence Jackson

We Orbit 03:19
We orbit the earth The earth orbits the sun We orbit each other I’m not the only one In our virtual pods In our virtual space We are standing in line We are marching in place The people of Earth Who have not yet gone into space All need entertainment To keep smiles on their face We orbit the players We orbit the stage We orbit the poetry We orbit the page We are a cast of characters Here to entertain Entertain each other Through the wind and rain We orbit the earth The earth orbits the sun We orbit each other I’m not the only one In our virtual pods In our virtual space We are standing in line We are marching in place We are a cast of characters Ready to rotate The simplest form of life We can’t accept our fate We are a cast of characters Here to entertain Entertain each other now Through the wind and rain -- Words and music by Andrew Lawrence Jackson Copyright 2021 Andrew Lawrence Jackson

about

Walking Around In A Trance is Jackson's third solo album of 2021. ALJ composes all tracks, sings and plays all the instruments, manipulates beats and loops, does all the engineering and production, the artwork, and pretty much everything. For this record, Jackson began with the beats and lyrics, then added minimal instrumentation. Inspired by pared down R&B and hip-hop beats, Jackson lets his voice take center stage.
